Makes 6-8 servings

Country Sausage Chili Ingredients:

  • country-sausage.jpg 2 pounds bulk spicy beef sausage
  • 2 green bell peppers, seeded and chopped
  • 2 cups chopped onion
  • 1 tablespoon chopped garlic
  • 2 cans (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cans (4 ounces each) diced green chilies, drained
  • ¼ cup ground chili powder
  • ¼ cup molasses
  • 1 tablespoon brown mustard seeds
  • 2 teaspoons red pepper flakes
  • 1 bay leaf
  • Add hot pepper sauce as per your desired taste

Country Sausage Chili Recipe Cooking Instructions:

  • Brown beef sausage in large Dutch over medium heat.

  • Drain fat, leaving two tablespoons of fat in the pot with browned sausage.

  • Break sausage into smaller chunks. Stir in bell peppers, onions and garlic.

  • Cook and stir about 5 to 8 minutes or until onion is translucent.

  • Add crushed tomatoes, diced green chilies, chili powder, molasses, mustard seeds, red pepper flakes, bay leaf and hot sauce.

  • Simmer about 1 hour or until thickened.

  • Remove and discard bay leaf.

  • Service with biscuit or cornbread if desired.

  • Sit back and enjoy!
